Our Favorite Movies About Seniors
We are entering into our colder, darker months when cozying up to watch a movie is increasingly appealing. Although this is obviously not an all inclusive list, the movies listed below came across our national senior move manager LISTSERV, so I thought I'd share those that focus on the theme of aging or seniors in some way. The plots are taken from the Internet Movie Database.
Cocoon
When a group of trespassing seniors swim in a pool containing alien cocoons, they find themselves energized with youthful vigor. A group of aliens return to earth to take back some cocoons of their people they left behind from an earlier trip. The cocoons are resting at the bottom of the ocean. They kept the recovered cocoons in the swimming pool of a house they rented in a small Florida town. Is Anybody There?
Set in 1980s seaside England, this is the story of Edward, an unusual ten year old boy growing up in an old people's home run by his parents. The loons are back again on Golden Pond and so are Norman Thayer, a retired professor, and Ethel who have had a summer cottage there since early in their marriage. The Trip To Bountiful
Carrie Watts is living the twilight of her life trapped in an apartment in 1940's Houston, Texas with a controlling daughter-in-law and a hen-pecked son.
